The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round

There were some interesting people on the bus today.

One man kept yelling at the young man next to him to stop rubbing up on his leg, and to keep his bag from touching him. Now, it was rush hour. There weren't a lot of people standing, but all of the seats on the bus were taken. If you have been on a CTA bus you know that the seats are rather narrow, and that it's very unlikely that the person next to you won't be touching you. This man just wouldn't stop. The young man next to him adjusted his bag on his lap so it wasn't touching Irate Man, he changed how he was sitting, yet Irate Man kept yelling at him. All he kept saying is, "Stop rubbing my leg," and "Don't put your bag on me." Irate Man kept on with his, even when the young man and his female companion changed places, so that she was sitting next to him. The young man went up and told the driver, but nothing happened. Most of the people within earshot couldn't believe this guy. If this is all it takes to set this guy off, I sure am glad that I am not a co-worker or a member of his family. He must have anger issues.

Another man on the bus was wearing a bicycle helmet, and I am guessing that he had a bicycle on the front of the bus. He was reading a paperback book. As he was getting ready to get off the bus, I watched him put his book into his bag. First he wrapped it in newspaper. He must have been reading this book for a while because the newspaper was already perfectly folded to fit this book exactly. He put rubber bands around the newspaper with the book in it, and then put it into a white plastic bag, like a grocery bag. The bag was gray from newsprint. He then put it into his bag. As I was watching him I thought, hey, that's a good idea. It's supposed to rain today, and even though he was carrying a big bag, if it pours the contents could still get went. Packing the book in this way would prevent it from getting too wet. You learn something new every day.

Hockey!!!

The hockey season has arrived. I ordered an 8-game ticket package, as well as the NHL Center Ice package, so I am ready.

For the first time in many years I joined a fantasy league. I managed to get a few great players, so I'm very excited and ready to kick strangers' butts.

Game on!

Fall is here, hear the yell, back to school, ring the bell

Aaah autumn, my favorite time of year. Here's why:

1. The weather. The crisp air. The cooler temperatures. Which leads to number two.

2. The wardrobe. I can wear my new sweaters without them being covered by a gigantic winter coat. Cute fall jackets.

3. The food. Beautiful apples. Pumpkin everything. I love pumpkin. Not only are the flavors terrific, but also the scents. I just bought three new candles: pumpkin, apple, and pear. It's really a spiced pear, so it has that awesome autumn smell, not summer like regular pear.

4. The sports. Baseball playoffs. The start of the hockey season. I ordered the NHL Center Ice package today. And, for the first time ever, I have a hockey ticket package. It's just a small one, eight games, but it makes me happy.

5. The colors. Rust. Gold. Yellow. In the trees. In the flowers. In the clothing.

I love this time of year. It's the time I feel the most energized. The most alive.
