The last time I checked Chicago wasn't Baja

A few days ago I was on the bus on my way home from work. As we were going up Sheridan Road, I saw a man walking away from the beach. He was carrying a surf board. Like, a real surf board. Is Edgewater a new surfing hot spot, and if so, why wasn't I informed?
