Hideout Block Party
When we arrived at the Hideout Block Party on Friday it was pouring rain. We queued up to be let into the parking lot where the stages were. There was only one group of people in front of us, yet when we got to the stage there were already people along the barrier. Curious.
We parked ourselves in front of the main stage, so we pretty much only heard those acts. I was really impressed with The Cinematics. The Changes were alright. Bloc Party was great. Kele always looks like he's having such a great time. Their set would have been even more enjoyable if there weren't girls screeching behind us. It's one thing to yell, sing, and scream at a show, it's another thing to screech, you know what I mean?
On Saturday we again parked ourselves in front of the main stage, and we didn't move. This time we got up to the barrier. I arrived in the middle of Guitarkestra's performance. Interesting, that. Cass McCombs sounded good. That square dancing thing went on way too long, and quite frankly put me in a bad mood. Thus, on any other day I probably would have really enjoyed Head of Femur's set, but I was in a bad mood and was not in the mood for that. I feel kind of bad about it now, because they actually sounded good. I might have to check them out again sometime when I'm in a better mood. Dan Deacon was so much fun. Art Brut was great as always. There was a part where they all froze on stage. Eddie Argos was frozen right in front of us, looking down. I was so tempted to stick out my tongue or make a face to see if I could make him laugh, thus ending his frozen state, but I thought it might be rude of me so I didn't. The band right before them on the other stage was a bunch of Hideout employees singing Art Brut songs. I wonder if anyone was confused by that. We thought it was hysterical. Anyway, I was really looking forward to The Frames. I was only familiar with a few of their songs, but I have had friends tell me they are amazing. And they were. They were great. We left after that. Yes, I missed Andrew Bird, but I don't really regret it. After spending 8.5 hours in the same spot I needed to move. Getting away from the front of the stage was a huge hassle because it got so crowded.
My legs were still killing me yesterday. I'm going to try to relax them again today as the Editors show is tomorrow.

You'll enjoy The Editors. I liked their first CD so much more than the second so will be taking a pass.
