In the closet

I am amazing. My powers of transforming my storage space is incredible. A few weeks ago it was my bathroom. Today, the closet.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I can now actually walk into my walk-in closet!

I broke down a ton of boxes. I threw out a some stuff, but not that much. Most of it was tissue and stuffing in the boxes. The floor is mostly clear (obviously there are some things on the floor, some stuff is just too big to be on a shelf). My suitcase is in the closet. I can walk in and shut the door. And I still have a ton of shelf space left.

I went from having no shelf space, not being able to walk in, and not being able to close the door to having all the room in the world.

Oh yeah. I rock. \m/

My Closet Threw Up

My apartment building doesn't have storage spaces. Since I can't afford to pay for a public storage space, I have to manage to fit everything into my apartment.

In the hallway there is one big storage closet. When I first moved in the closet was nicely organized. Since then, I have accumulated so much crap. Much of it is mail order boxes which I don't want to throw out in case I need to send something or need them when I move. Since all the shelves were full of the boxes I had stacked up nicely when I first moved in, there was no room for them. They all ended up tossed in the closet. Just thrown in, and wherever they landed, that's where they stayed. It got to the point where I have been keeping my suitcase in the hallway because I haven't been able to fit it into the closet. Something had to be done.

Today I started cleaning out the closet. I managed to throw some stuff out. There were some things that were stored in the closet, such as candles and holiday decorations, that I was able to store in the armoire in my bedroom. Now, I just have to deal with the boxes.

I don't know how many there are, but it looks like my closet threw up boxes all over my apartment.

I still haven't decided what to do with all of them. I think I will break down the Amazon and Delias and Burt's Bees boxes and store them in some of the larger boxes. That might work. I have a few boxes that are full of packing foam or cardboard dividers. Those are boxes in which I still have the items (dishes, jewelery boxes, etc.) and plan to use those again when I move. There isn't much I can do to make them smaller. Or the shoe boxes. But if I can manage to put some boxes into others it will help.

I am so uninclined spatially that it will be interesting to see how many tries I have to go through to get everything to fit. I wish Tim were here. He's much better at this than I am.

A lady I work with got had two tickets to see the play The Graduate at the Shubert Theater Friday night, and she couldn't use them, so she gave them to me. I took Tim. First we went to dinner at Shaw's Crab House. Tim had been wanting to go there for a long time. We got some gift certificates from my dad and stepmom for Christmas, so we went. Yum! I had never had oysters before, and they were great! I had a yummy cocktail and yellowfin tuna. I could't decide what to have for dessert. I had seen creme brule and pecan pie, and I knew Tim wanted the key lime pie (which I felt obligated to get since he can't order a whole dessert for himself). Then I looked at the bottom of the dessert menu, and they had a dessert sampler with small pieces of all 2, and some lemon cookies! So we got that. Yum!

Onto the play. It starred Lorraine "Dr. Melfi" Bracco. She was really good as Mrs. Robinson. She got naked on stage, but most of the lights were off so you don't get to see that well. The other actors were okay. It wasn't the best play I had seen in my life, but it was pretty good. I enjoyed it.

Yeesh

I haven't watched many hockey games this year, mostly because I have been busy with school. I haven't been able to keep up the way I want.

I'm glad I watched tonight's Blackhawks-Devils game. After the second period, Blackhaws play-by-play man Pat Foley ripped into Alexander Karpotsev, who had recently been traded to the Islanders for basically nothing, which, in Foley's opinion (and mine, too) is exactly what he was worth. I have never heard a sportcaster go off on a player more. He said things along the lines of how he had been covering the Hawks for over 20 years and that no one was a bigger disgrace to the Blackhawks uniform. He was the worst teammate ever. He always had an excuse not to play. Good riddance. And the like. He went on for a long time.

I don't disagree, but it was just so odd to hear a play-by-play man go on and on about it. Usually you hear their assessment about a player's ability, their strengths and weaknesses; but you don't hear them go on that kind of rant about their personal feelings about that player. It was quite the rant. Very amusing.
